Joyce Newman House

London

Born from concerns about a lack of affordable housing in Southwark, Joyce Newman House is a Community-led development, providing 34 apartments and six houses for social rent.

Previously a disused nursery, the transformation was led by Leathermarket Community Benefit Society (LCBS), in partnership with Southwark Council, and managed by igloo.

As part of local consultations which helped ensure the development was an honest reflection of resident needs, we facilitated a Community-designed garden, supported by Urban Growth – a space for residents to proudly maintain, relax and connect.
