Helix

Newcastle

With a vision to help everyone live easier, healthier, smarter and longer lives, Newcastle Helix is a 24-acre hybrid urban innovation quarter, providing modern, mixed-use space for international tech and science businesses, as well as local families, communities and residents.

Originally a brewery for 120 years before being sold to Newcastle City Council in 2004, the site will bring a new wave of purpose and potential to the area, with eight buildings already completed and dedicated to commercial use, research, education, and a district energy centre.

As part of this transformation, igloo is developing 360 exemplary new homes, expanding on the residential areas that already exist to the north and west of the site. Reflecting the innovative culture and mission of the development project, each of our homes will be created with People, Place, and Planet front of mind.

With a landscape-led approach, we will create a place where people enjoy spending their time and want to stay, while ensuring the neighbourhood responds to the site’s complexities, typography, neighbouring uses and market needs.

The Newcastle Helix regeneration project is being undertaken by Newcastle University, Newcastle City Council and Legal & General Group PLC (a joint venture called Newcastle Science Central Management LLP (NSCM LLP).
