John Long
John leads our development activities in the South of the UK, and is responsible for our brand, culture and innovation.
John joined igloo in 2006 as a Development Director, with a passion to use his time, talent and career for environmental and social good. In 2022, he became a director of the business, leading our development activities in the South of the UK, while also steering our brand, culture and innovation.
Over the years John has led a number of igloo’s celebrated projects, such as Four Hundred Caledonian Road, the multi award-winning scheme in London with Aviva Investors. Today he supports our development teams with some of our major projects including Central Winchester Regeneration (with Winchester City Council, Thriving Investments and Genr8 Kajima) and Oakfield in Swindon (with Nationwide Building Society).
Outside of igloo, John founded, and is currently a non-executive director of, the UK Green Film Festival. This is the UK’s largest multi-city annual film festival dedicated to sourcing and screening the best environmental film documentaries in cinemas and Community facilities around the country. He also leads a local group of volunteers where he lives in Bath, managing a Community meadow and taking the role of Chief Goat Herder.
