Gary Watt

Gary is a Development Director with responsibility for urban design and development delivery in Glasgow.

Well known for his leadership ability, Gary completed the phased development of 73 low-cost homes at Maryhill Locks in 2019 for Bigg Regeneration, a partnership between Scottish Canals and Thriving Investments Ltd. Awards for different phases included Best Starter Home at the 2017 Scottish Housing Awards, and Building of the Year at the RIAS awards in 2021.

On behalf of a partnership between Scottish Canals, PfP-igloo and Housing Growth Partnership, Gary is also heading up the design and development of a 25-acre former Diageo distillery. The first phase of works saw a £6m grant supported, enabling an infrastructure works package to be completed, which won the Public Realm and Landscaping award at the 2020 Scottish Design Awards. Housing development commenced with 90 Passivhaus apartments by West of Scotland Housing Association, completed in Spring 2024. The next phase of housing started on site in January 2023, which will see 78 ‘for sale’ townhouses built to EPC ‘A’ standard, with air source heat pumps, PV’s, and shower water heat recovery, and using off-site closed panel timber kit manufacture from locally based contractor CCG.

Accreditations include a 4* Home Quality Mark rating and Building with Nature award.
