igloo is proudly recertified as a B Corporation

At igloo, we’re continuously striving to improve the impact we have on our projects, communities and our employees, as we lead our mission to find a better way to do development. So, we’re proud to announce that we’ve been recertified as a B Corporation for the eighth year, with an increased score highlighting our commitment to our progress since we were last certified in 2021.

igloo was first accredited as a B Corp business back in 2016, and was recognised as the first real estate B Corp in the UK. Continuing to lead the way, in 2018, we were recognised by B Lab as ‘Best in World’ for the environment – and by 2022, we’d received this award three times, while also becoming the second-highest B Corp in the world, scoring in the top 5% of all B Corps globally.

This year, after submitting our reporting and data, our overall B Impact Score has risen from 105.9 in 2021 to 114.2 in 2024, picking up impact points for improvement across the governance, workers and community sections of the report.

For wider context, at igloo we scored 124.4% higher than the qualifying mark, scoring highly overall across our sector, country and size range, and specifically over 4 out of 5 of the reporting sections.

B Lab is leading a movement that’s transforming the global economy to benefit all people, communities, and the planet. Heavily aligned to our own values, through their rigorous assessment, they score companies against their high social, environmental and governance best practices to help drive real change across the globe.

The prestigious accreditation measures a company’s entire social and environmental impact, and those that receive certification are considered leaders in the global movement for an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy. With high standards, the process to maintain B Corp accreditation is rigorous, requiring efforts to engage departments across the company, making it something we’re proud to have achieved time and time again.

Our continued commitment

Both in the communities we create and in our workplace, we continue to lead the way in the real estate sector. Here are a few highlights from the year that have helped us boost our B Impact Score in 2024:

• With an understanding that no two projects are the same, our team use our Footprint ® methodology to help establish the opportunity and potential of a place against six dimensions: Climate, Circularity, Nature, Place, Community, and Wellbeing – helping us measure and benchmark our impact and achieve the best outcomes.
• Our igloo Values Team worked with MIND and RICS Lionheart to assess how we look after the wellbeing of our employees, and how we can improve.
• Extending our impact outside of work, we allocated 220 in-work hours across our team towards volunteering activities outside of the day job, equating to a day per employee.
• We support our B Corp community through national B Corp events and the Manchester Voluntary Sector speed dating event.
• We have moved both our registered office in Manchester and our London office to B Corp managed spaces by Huckletree and Uncommon, respectively. We also moved to a B Corp IT support provider, Fluid IT.

The movement continuesOver the coming years, we will continue to make positive strides to improve our working culture and maximise our overall impact, as we continue to lead as the UK’s first B Corp real estate business. In our current period of growth, one of our main priorities is ensuring that, as we bring in new talent, we continue to pass down our B Corp values and instil our passion in a new generation as we plan and build for the world we need next.Find out more about our B Corp status here
